alfred knows the gist of my truth. I still need to figure out the exact wording. Since I don't want to enter long sentence town if possible.

Hey, so, everybody. Make a new thread for your character and post him. Go ahead and follow character creation instructions from the book.
Step 0: Concept
Before doing anything else, consider your character for a moment. What kind of character do you want to play? Honorable? Treacherous? Ambitious? Think about it for a moment before you begin.
Step 1: Choose a Name
Your character’s name is important: it adds one die to all appropriate risks. Pick a name and then, pick the name’s meaning. If the meaning is appropriate to a risk, add one die to that risk.
Step 2: Choose Giri (Duty)
Now determine your position in the Daimyo’s court. This is called giri, or “duty” or “obligation.” This is the role you fulfill for the Daimyo. There can be more than one court officer per court. In other words, a Daimyo may have two yojimbo or hatamoto if he chooses. Your Giri provides three advantages. All samurai start with rank 1 Giri.
Step 3: Choose Virtues
You must now assign ranks to the Virtues. There are six Virtues, but unfortunately, you only get five of them. The sixth is your weakness. You will have no ranks in that Virtue. Not now, not ever. Well, that’s not completely true. But not now, for sure. And not in the near future.
Assign these ranks to your Virtues: • One Virtue at rank 4. • Two Virtues at rank 3. • Two Virtues at rank 2. • One Virtue as a weakness (write “W”). Having a weakness means you have no dice for that particular Virtue. You must find dice elsewhere (in Aspects, Duty, etc.). Having a weakness does not mean you never roll dice for a particular kind of risk, it means that Virtue gives you no dice.
Step 4: Choose Aspects
You now choose two of the four Aspects your Clan has chosen to define its samurai. Every samurai receives the None of Us… Aspect for free, so you may choose two Aspects in addition to None of Us is as Great as All of Us.
Step 5: Honor & Glory
Your character begins with two ranks of Honor. This gives you two Honor Points for the Honor Pool. See more about Honor Points in the Honor & Glory section.
Your character begins with one rank of Glory. He is a lesser- known samurai without a reputation. Because you have one Glory Rank, you may write a single word or phrase on the line next to your Glory rank. This word or phrase represents your reputation. It could be “great sword fighter” or “wise judgment” or “rash and impulsive.” Whatever you like.
Step 6: Advantages
You may have one Advantage. Pick from the list
(here, you may want to open up your thread as a place to discuss the options. Maybe you're thinking about playing a Hostage from another House and are looking at the Outsider advantage, etc and you want some people to give you feedback and avoid overlap. Everyone help each other out, be cool people. -Alfred)
Step 7: Age
Finally, determine your character’s starting Age. Not his literal age, but the number of Age Points your character has. Roll one six-sided die. That’s your character’s starting Age Points.

So before anyone posts (well, me, really), I figured I would ask if there is any duty that people are dead-set on taking for their character? I know we can double-up, but I thought it'd be good to check what people were mainly interested in.
As for me, I don't really mind, but I like the look of the spy master or seneschal.

I think my choices are along the lines of 1. Executioner - oooh scary but I might forget that if alfred says it's boring 2. General 3. Seneschal 3.Spymaster - I think a lot of people want this already and as I said I think others would do better. But it looks very awesome. So looking forward to what people do with it. 3.Bodyguard- if you literally have to be around the Daimyo all the time then I may be less interested in this. Having an almost AW style gang is kinda cool though (granted they are loyal) . also my truth is more along the lines of "Pirate Lords call the nearby seas home and have recently come under attack. In a surprise move they have banded together against this unknown foe." I have to work on the wording a bit, but just so you know the gist of it. It may be a tad more specific. (in pink because it isn't quite right yet, but it's basically what it is) alfred is aware that I'm debating the nature of the threat /and or wanting to leave it open.

Step 1: Choose a Name Your character’s name is important: it adds one die to all appropriate risks. Pick a name and then, pick the name’s meaning. If the meaning is appropriate to a risk, add one die to that risk. Also if we go with fantasy-esque names, how are we gonna handle this? Or is it if we come up with bullshit combos like Jon Hammersfell ...which actually doesn't sound that bad edit: I take it real name variants and/or if we want to do horrid names like Erik ShadowDancer

Jon Hammersfell sounds cool. We an do real world/low fantasy style names, I figure.
The Executioner is probably cool. You're the Lord's personal sword-arm. You kill who needs killing, and your stories are about killing people who maybe shouldnt be killed? Or not killing who should be? And otherwise expected to represent the whole clan when it comes to blood shed. Too much responsibility on one set of shoulders. It's neat.
The Bodyguard doesn't literally have to always be by the Lord's side... Sometimes the best place for the security chief is in the village pub, rounding up suspects, right? You'll probably be more closely involved in the Lord's private affairs, though, obviously -- which is a cool dimension for this otherwise martial Class/Duty. That said, you are of course free to go away. Your bodyguards count as a "samurai" (Officer) who uses your prowess + their ranks, after all. You can leave them to protect The Lord and they'll probably trounce any peasants or unnamed officers (Yowamushi rule and all that). They might be able to take on an officer.
Also as for your truth:
Pirate Lords call the nearby seas home and have recently come under attack by an unknown power, forcing them to band together for survival.

Yeah being a spymaster would be cool. Do you want to be co-spymasters Simon? Makes sense that the house that doesn't have an army and specializes in cunning, cleverness, booze, gambling, and brothels should have more than one spymaster.
Is everyone else cool if there are two people on the same position? I'm fine if Simon is the spymaster and I could pick something else.

I'm fine with doubling up, I just thought that it'd be an idea to clarify who was interested in what, just in case anyone thought it'd be redundant to have two whatevers.
I'm happy to let someone else be spymaster and take seneschal, honestly!

You're all:
Young, in your Spring phase. You're probably replacements for a bunch of dead officers since you've been at war for THREE YEARS.
Male or female, it's a fucking fantasy world, go for whatever.
Be married if you want! That's fine! It's up to you!!
Te executioner is primarily local -- BUT you're the Lord's sword-arm, right? If he needs you to go off and kill for him, as the clan, authoritatively, officially... It MAY invoke crossing borders. Revenge and justice are serious business, yeah?
