I don't disagree. I'm clarifying for mr.guy who thinks I think octopi have black blood... And like I said before I think we should get to know more about the house as well can we do what's true about our House first? that might make this part easier...if we know what the deal with our house is in more detail

I mean, I think the holdings are less to do with the values of the house and more to do with what mechanical bonuses we want for our characters? Probably not an issue to do the truths and holdings simultaneously, though!

I'm not exactly sure what the issue is. I was just saying it would probably be easier to determine the truths before coming up with a motto. I wasn't saying "LET'S DO THE TRUTHS RIGHT NOW!"
more truths before motto

I didn't think there was an issue! Miscommunication over the internet is a terrible thing, someone needs to make an app to fix it.

I think we should also have a Winery (read: Sake House).
As for Geisha House/Bordello: Hmm... Perhaps Conservatory? Or is that too anachronistic?

I'm likely going to pick the Training Ground/Dojo for mine. Conservatory seems a bit anachronistic, yeah. Unless shanri has steampunk elements. edit: and I just saw this Any of the Holdings that are decidedly Japanese (like the Buddhist temple) we'll figure out what it is in play. We can just call them by their holding name though. so I guess I'll probably likely just go with Dojo. Though it may change depending on what others go with.

Mechanical benefits of the dojo are free actions to improve your character -- so perhaps a training ground, or an academy, or a sort of salon where people discuss matters of importance.
Mechanical benefits of geisha house are few rumors about things in the province. So maybe a tavern, a bar, a market, a public square, a brothel, or a salon where people discuss matters of import.
Mechanical benefits of sumo school is strength wagers, so some place that makes you stronger, like perhaps a training ground, or arena, or gymnasium, or archery range or similar.
Buddhist temple gives away Meditation points that let you roll a 10 as long as you roll a single die. Not sure what that'll be.
Shinto shrine gives away blessings to characters, so that sounds like a Temple to me.
Rice farm can just be a rice farm or a farm -- it gives you all spending money. So it could be a mine, a market, a fishing lane, anything that generates income for the province.
If you guys would like to do truths, that's fine. I just wanted most of the province work done first -- so everyone had a baseline to work with, right? Whenever you guys want, you can declare your one truth you get.
Declare it in Bold, and maybe a color other than black. Let me know what is fundamentally true about your Lord, the lands, the people, your allies, your enemies, your brides, children, warriors, etc. any of that stuff.
No one can dispute you, but they can modify your claim by using their fact to add a For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So clause to it.

I take it this should be short and sweet (like the one liners int eh book) as opposed to a lengthy thing.

Yeah, a different sort of temple would be the best way to handle it.
And yeah, a short and sweet thing; not super long.

So if the bordello is already taken, then I would like to jump on the gambling den (sorry to bring the class of the place down).
Also, do you guys think our speciality should be ink or maybe some kind of dye? I'm still all for booze as our specialty. Just throwing some suggestions out there.
another suggestion for motto: Our reach knows no bounds

Oh boy, I guess our house is going to be shit out of luck when things inevitably turn to war! Unless we somehow convince the armies to gamble instead of battle - odds you take the bridge, tails we maintain control?
Our Reach Knows No Bounds is good, I like it.

So we have a Geisha House, Gambling Den, Dojo, and Sake House! We are the party house, I like it.
Truths next, or am I missing something (I usually am)

Oh snap I didn't even realize all of you had chosen a holding!
Sooo...
First, who is your House Lord? Lord Sepia, the Clever Count of House Sepia.
Second, what Virtue does your House revere? House Sepia reveres Cunning; the ability to see the plan inside the plan inside the plan. This is Honor -- trickery, sneakery, the tactics of underhandedness to protect your Lord and his lands.
Third, what Holdings does your House have at its disposal in your province? A Geisha House and its rumors. A Sake House and its courage. A Gambling Den and its fools (and their money). A Dojo and its instruction.
Fourth, what Aspects does your Clan have? Fog Cannot be Dispelled by a Fan, you're experts whenever you lie -- but you constantly fight the temptation to nest all of your dealings in falsehood, upon untruth. If My Dog Knew My Secrets, a secret with you is a secret lost at the bottom of the sea. Yet, you put yourselves in harm's way to accumulate these little words of power. Dig Two Graves, for your clan revenge is an art that knows no equal. You're haughty, though -- prideful -- and when insulted, you throw your reason to the winds.
Fifth, what specialty does your Province boast? You still need to choose. Some have mentioned alcohol, some have mentioned inks or dyes.
Sixth, what is your House’s Name and Heraldry? House Sepia. Your heraldry includes an Octopus last I heard, but no mention of colors or design. Blue for knowledge? Gold for reason? Silver for passion? Green for vigor? Red for passions inflamed?
Seventh, what is true about your House? None yet.
So we need your Heraldry to be designed -- one person can take point on that and then maybe everyone can change one or two details? Or however you guys want to resolve it. Maybe everyone name one element of the heraldry and decide it (like deciding a Truth).
Also your Province's Specialty.
And yes, your True things.
